Build a grant file that can be read
A file is not a novel. It is a demonstration: the problem exists, your answer is credible, the money has a line.
The order busy readers follow
Title and summary. Who you are (team, status). The problem, quantified if you have figures — otherwise say you do not have them yet. The solution in one page. Beneficiaries. Budget. Timeline. Risks.
Annexes (bylaws, support letters) come after. If the summary is hollow, annexes will not save it.
What GIAN prepares — and what it does not
The diagnostic feeds the narrative (SWOT, SDGs, scores). Scout proposes calls whose links still live. Grant Writer assembles a draft aligned to one opportunity.
GIAN does not fill the funder's portal, does not sign, does not guarantee eligibility. An « EU seat » rule does not vanish because the prose is pretty.
Budget: lines, not a round number
A round amount with no breakdown looks improvised. Split staff, field, equipment, M&E. If you do not have costs, the file is not ready — the GIAN diagnostic can say that earlier than a rejection at day 90.
